The True Story of the Three Little Pigs

Today in Skylarks we read the story of 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs'. The children had to work in their table groups to design, make and evaluate their own little pigs house. It was brilliant fun especially trying to blow the houses down with the hairdryer.

Spellings for the Autumn Term

Welcome back Skylarks.

This year we will be setting spellings slightly differently. I have sent home a term of spellings separated into weeks. This is so we can keep spelling books in school. Each week an adult will explain the rule to the children and any words they are unfamiliar with. The spellings are also attached to the blog.

Drawbridge Challenge

Today the children were set the task of creating a working drawbridge with a leaver. They were allowed paper, cardboard and art straws. They all had a fun, creative afternoon.

Starburst fraction challenge

The children were given twenty starbursts each to work out a collection of fraction problems. This ranged of fraction of amounts, adding and subtracting fractions and ordering fractions. This was a really tricky task and they were fantastic at it! Well done Skylarks.

Food for Ancient Greek athletes

We tried a selection of food which athletes ate before the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece. I was really impressed at the amount of people who tried them all. Lots of people liked at least one thing! They had feta cheese, dates and olives with olive oil to dip.

Bees

We had a fantastic visit from a Beekeeper today! The Skylarks were able to look at some of the equipment used and the hive with bees in. We could even spot the Queen B.

National Skipping Day - 21st April

The whole of KS2 came together to celebrate National Skipping Day by completing some skipping races. Including the challenging cross skipping.

On your marks... get set... bake!

In Skylarks it seemed appropriate to make a robot cake. We had great fun on Thursday weighing out all the ingredients and making the cakes. Then today, we made fondant icing and decorated the cakes to make our robot look complete.
